About
Your love story’s wow is our vow.
VaVow’s principal ordained officiant, Steven Belec, will immerse himself into your love story to craft a wedding ceremony that will capture the essence of your love and be forever etched in your memories. Steven has officiated weddings throughout New England since 2010.
Steven serves all people, of all traditions, faiths, beliefs and backgrounds. He specializes in non-sectarian wedding services for couples who may not have a traditional church or faith-based affiliation, may not share the same faith or have specific spiritual needs in a ceremony.
Steven understands that a ceremony has the power to amplify your love for each other. He believes all ceremonies should be customized to each unique couple. His passion is creating a ceremony that reflects who each of you are individually, your relationship to each other and the love of those surrounding you. He strives to weave magic into your wedding day and create an experience that will forever hold a special place in your hearts.
Steven’s approach to officiating is one of gratitude, joy, connection and wonder. At the heart of his officiating is a deep-rooted commitment to accompanying others on their journeys. Through collaboration and sharing during the planning process, he creates a ceremony that honors backgrounds, cultural traditions, and storytelling as mechanisms to honor a couple’s love authentically.
Marriage is both a legal and an emotional event; Steven has the authority to solemnize marriage as regulated by the government. Steven can perform ceremonies in many states, including all of New England, and is recognized by the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as authorized and commissioned to perform legal marriage ceremonies.
Steven’s passion for loving ceremonies is informed by his professional career of public service to others. He has almost three decades of experience at healthcare, nonprofit organizations and government agencies. He has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a Master of Public Administration from Suffolk University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (UMass Amherst). Born in Worcester, he currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts with his husband.
“I am not your traditional ordained officiate; I am a spiritual person who loves a good love story. I have spent my professional career supporting others.
I believe:
All ceremonies should be personalized and impactful. Your ceremony can be whatever you want it to be; it is your ceremony and is about your relationship… not just commitments and celebration.
Love is Love. I work with ALL couples; I welcome individuals and unis of all identities, labels (or non-labels), and relationship dynamics.
Perfection is found in in the imperfect; we can work with any situation by bringing intentional sincerity, light-heartedness and humor where appropriate.
In an “…or not” rule: Ceremonies can be spiritual or not, faith-based or not, have religious elements or not, etc.
The “VaVow” is when a ceremony planning process strengthens your relationship and celebrates two individuals lives and reflects who they are as a couple. My goal is that all of our ceremonies incorporate your personal values, beliefs, and interests to create a unique and unforgettable experience that will be cherished for years to come.”

The 5-Step Process
-
Reach out to us - the first step is to give us a call, text, e-mail, or submit our form. We will find time to connect and see if we are a good match. We will then work out the details and send you a detailed discovery questionnaire to begin our planning.
-
Reserve your date and time of your wedding. We will begin with our in-depth conversations and discussions of your story as a couple.
-
Review of ceremony elements like script options, readings, messages, music, blessings, rituals, remembrances, processional arrangements, announcements, and other customized elements. This will include sample vows, outline and cue sheet for vendor coordination.
-
Enjoy your wedding day; the day of the wedding, we will arrive early, collect the marriage license from you, and finalize any details.
-
We have your signed and completed marriage filed with the town clerk and provide a tracking number. We make sure you get a copy of your legal marriage certificate for name changes and any other legal document modifications. We then follow-up with some final closing thoughts and wish you the best life together!
